Seems like a fun party and all for a good cause. Shepard Fairey would be a blast to see, even though youtube tells us his keen eye for aeshetics might not have carried over to his DJ abilities. It seems that his sets are made up of primarily oldschool hip hop tracks and breaks. Shepard's art (like the wood print above) and track selection make it obvious he wanted to be black when he grew up. Bleh, he plays what he likes and thats what its all about, so fuckit.

"Moombahton is mid-tempo global bass music for the universe. It's a sonic marriage of electronic dance music (house, techno, and dubstep) with latin/island music (reggeaton, cumbia, and dancehall) that flows at a pace of about 108 beats per minute. Originally, moombahton started by Dave Nada slowing down tropical and dutch house records and re-edited them to sound like reggaeton's weird little cousin. Because the tempo nears that of reggaeton, Nada created the neologism "Moombahton" by combining the title of the track "Moombah" by DJ Chuckie & Silva Cuomo and the "ton" ending of the word "reggaeton" and applied it to the new genre. Moombahton continues to grow worldwide as producers and DJ's push the music in exciting new ways."

It sounds like producers are headed towards a new disco sound right now, (Fake Blood with his "I think i like it" banger and the whole Ducksauce thing with A-trak and Armand) and this track is full of 80's disco/pop synth. Pretty good........... For and indie song.

A while back i was introduced to the music craze that's killing braincells in north Britan. Donk Music. Essentially your taking a track and adding a wikked donk on it, although their producers insist that its much much more. Here's the music video for Blackout Crew's bangin single "Put a Donk on it."

I know what your thinking, "This obviously be some sort of joke, Sam... sick and twisted joke." But that's when i introduce you to the guys at World Music Blog and their documentary on the Donk music scene.

This is an amazing documentary that takes you into the heart of the donk scene, Quality work in putting this together. Its amazing to learn about a scene so different to what were used to here. By now you've probably realized that this is serious business for some people, but your definitely not gonna see me bumping any donk music any soon. (sorry Blackout Crew)

Whatever... none of that matters because in the end its all about one thing. Hustlin! Hustlin! Hustlin!!
